An Alva yacht is a “solar-electric-serial-hybrid” vessel which is constructed to provide the necessary energy for hotel loads and short pure-electric trips.

The entire vessel is made of lightweight sandwich composite with carbon reinforcement.

Alva Yachts are not built to cruise at high speeds and longer trips on batteries only.

In this case the generator sets are needed to support the propulsion energy requirements.

You will be able to cruise with a comfortable 7-9 knots and both generators running without depleting the batteries. If you need higher speeds the batteries will start to drain energy to the motors.

To give a few examples:

• The consumption at 6Kn speed is of approximately 30 to 40 kW. So at this speed you could go only with the solar panels, without generator, for around 6 or 7 hours.
• At 8Kn, roughly 100 kW. This would be approximately 10% of the engines power.
• At 10Kn, 200 kW.
• With the solar panels, the boat can sail without a generator for around 24 hours at 3 knots.

On the Eco Cruise 50, maximum speed is around 12 knots.
On the Ocean Eco 60, maximum speed is around 14 knots.
On the Ocean Eco 78 and Ocean Eco 90, maximum speed is about 16 knots.

Electric motors are maintenance-free, in contrast to classic fuel engines. This is one of the main advantages of electric motors.

Electric motors withstand more than 100,000 hours of operation.

Shipyard’s warranty is 12 months for commercial use and 24 months for private use. The batteries have 8 years warranty and the engines, 5 years.

On the Eco Cruise 50, cruising speed is 7 knots, with a range of up to 45 nautical miles.
On the Ocean Eco 60, cruising speed is 7.5 knots, with a range of up to 75.
On the Ocean Eco 78 and Ocean Eco 90, cruising speed is 9 knots, with a range of up to 80.

Generator: 2-4 hours.
Shore amp line: There are units with a charging capacity of up to 32 kW, which allows the batteries to be charged in 7-8 hours. Usually there’s 32 Amp chargers in Marinas, with this it takes about 20h for the batteries to fully recharge.
